How to use this page.

In a sense this entire site is an exercise in publicity. If you are interested you are free to download any of it (copyrights apply!).
However this page is designed to be used if you specifically need an image or information to a higher quality than your standard website page.
Below you will find a fairly concise piece of text, this can be used in part, or in its entirety as a press clipping. There is a second section with a downloadable image giving details of our new album. And finally you can see various thumbnails of images that can be downloaded and used for publicity purposes if you so require.
The file sizes are relatively large though none should take more than a couple of minutes to download. You can then use them for your own publicity (we hope). If you should require actual photographs, or a publicity leaflet, please contact us
Formed in 1984, The Morrigan have been playing their own unique brand of folk influenced rock ever since.
How to describe them? The music ranges through folk, jazz, classical, medieval, funk, metal and accapella; sometimes in one number!
Their reputation as a live band is legend; over the years they have enthralled hundreds of audiences throughout the U.K., performing at countless festivals including two acclaimed appearances at Glastonbury.
Here are a few snippets from live reviews over the last few years.

Everything about this band was top notch, vocals, keyboards guitars the lot. If you can get to see them live, do it! their CD's
 don't do them justice.

May 27-28, 2001 (London, England ) Review by David Ash

This is powerful folk rock at its very best, and I cannot recommend it strongly enough. The guitar work and keyboards were scintillating and the vocals had an inner strength that could not fail to satisfy.

Review from New Horizons website

I have never seen these multi instrumentalists before, so it was an amazing experience to feel the energy and atmosphere they
create with their music......
.....The band have the ability to conjure up a primal rhythm that even had my legs trying to get me up there (the rascals!)......
.....The band played on, wonderful stuff. Not content with one magic evening, our party went to see them again  the following night at the Wharf Arts Centre, Tavistock in Devon! Hope we see them at the Classic Rock Society soon.

Hidden Agenda    (ENG1024 CD)  2001

At last! A sensational new album from this greatly loved prog-folk-rock band. Delivered in a fine style as always from the seeming castle turrets of ancient Britain, here the band wrap you in their unique medieval cloak of mystery and intrigue for an adventure into a noble fantasy land. Fantastic quality representing the best CD offering to date from this great band.

The CD leaps into action with a huge range of innovative music ranging from highly original arrangements of traditional folk pieces through to epic prog masterpieces.

There is the usual Morrigan offering of early music in the form of the 16th century Flemish composer Tielman Suzato's Basse Danse and two of the German, Michael Praetorious's wonderful voltas.

The wonderful "A Night To Remember" has finally found it's way onto CD. This nearly ten minute true folk prog epic recreates the tragic events that unfolded on the titanic's maiden voyage and was conceived long before the modern film brought the story back to life, being first penned by the band over ten years ago. Although the Morrigan have performed it live on many occasions, this is the first time for this piece on CD.

Cathy Alexander shines as her outstanding vocals weave tales of yesteryear. Her voice is particularly resplendent on the original and highly schizophrenic "the Other" and her beautiful arrangement of the traditional "Parting Glass".
